Girls Recreational Gymnastics

Our Rising Stars Recreational Program is all about fun, friendship, and flipping into new skills! Designed for girls in 1st grade and up, this program helps gymnasts build strength, flexibility, and confidence while exploring the four main events: vault, bars, beam, and floor—plus trampoline and TumblTrak fun!

Led by encouraging coaches, gymnasts master each level at their own pace—because success isn’t just about trophies, it’s about progress, perseverance, and pride. At Flying High, we cheer for every milestone, big or small!

We also offer a Boys Recreational Gymnastics Program.

Class Descriptions

All of our Parent and Child classes are held upstairs in our tot gym full of equipment made specifically for our little stars! Are you in 6th Grade or older? Check out our Teen Classes designed specifically for you!

Beginner

Once a Beginner feels comfortable and accomplished the basics on each event, they move to Level 1 where they focus on doing the basics with special attention on achieving proper form. Athletes will work on back walkovers and front limbers on floor, back hip circles on bars, handstands on low beam, as well as other skills.

*Students must be evaluated by a Flying High Instructor before being placed in this level.

Intermediate

In our Rock Stars 2 Class boys will build upon the skills they learned in Rock Stars 1. While the focus at this level is perfecting basic skills, new elements and more challenging sequences are introduced. Strength and endurance are crucial for learning more advanced skills, so you will see more conditioning at this level.

*Students must be evaluated by a Flying High Instructor before being placed in this level.

Advanced

At the Advanced level, gymnasts will perfect the skills learned in Intermediate, and work on more advanced skills when ready. Whether they are working towards being on a high school team, or are just interested in having fun and learning a wide variety of skills, Advanced is the perfect choice!

*Students must be evaluated by a Flying High Instructor before being placed in this level.

Teen Rec Gymnastics

This class is designed for those 6th grade or older who are interested in working on their gymnastics basics. Whether you have been away from the sport for a while, or are just developing an interest in the sport for the first time, participants will focus on building their gymnastics fundamentals on all events.

Recreational Gymnastics FAQs

Flying High classes run all year long—no long-term commitment needed!
Jump in anytime; tuition is paid monthly and stays the same, whether the month is long or short (it all evens out!).
Starting mid-month? No worries—we’ll prorate!
A $35 annual admin fee is due when you enroll and each year after. (Non-refundable, but helps keep the magic going!)

Will my child be behind if they start now?
Not at all! Our classes are grouped by age and skill, so everyone’s working on the same fun stuff.
New students jump right in, and those who’ve already mastered the skills have moved on up—so your child will fit right in and shine in no time!

Yes! We have viewing rooms available and you are more than welcome to come and watch a class in action! We also have a Café where drinks and snacks can be purchased while you watch class.

Why are classes grouped by age but level-ups based on skill?
At Flying High, we group by age to match natural stages of child development—but every kiddo grows at their own pace!
Each class has a skill checklist, and once your child masters all the moves, they’re ready to level up—no matter their age.
It’s all about confidence, progress, and celebrating each child’s unique journey!

What should my child wear to class?
We recommend leotards for girls—without skirts (they like to get caught on things!). Spandex shorts and snug leggings in chilly months work great too.
Boys should wear a comfy t-shirt and shorts (no zippers or baggy fits, please!). Sweatpants and long sleeves are perfect for cooler days.

What’s the evaluation process like?
At Flying High, evaluations are a big celebration! 🎉
When a coach feels your child is ready, a fresh set of eyes (an evaluator from outside their class) will guide them through their skill list to see how far they’ve come.
If it’s time to level up, they’ll ring the bell loud and proud—while the whole gym cheers them on like the superstar they are!
Have questions about your athlete’s progress?  You can always ask the teacher or email the director at Natalie.L@flyinghighgym.com.

How many times a week should my child attend class?
That’s up to you—but we highly recommend coming twice a week!
It helps your child grow stronger, stretch farther, learn faster, and master all that fun gymnastics lingo.
More time in the gym = more progress, more confidence, and more fun!

What if my child needs a little extra practice?
We’ve got plenty of ways to boost their skills and confidence! 🌟
✨ Add a second class each week —more time = more progress!
✨ Try a Specialty Class for focused work on skills like bars, backbends, or flip flops—great for fine-tuning!
✨ Need personalized support? Book a Private Lesson (solo or buddy-style!) for one-on-one attention and faster growth.
We even offer holiday Clinics for skill-boosting fun. Just ask the Front Desk—we’ll help you find the perfect fit!
